Source Code and Executables

These file Downloads below were some of the first we were asked to write and though, to the expert seem ridiculously easy, presented us freshers with huge problems. However, looking at them again two years on it is now possible to see the strategy placed within their content. I have included the 'pas' files created in Turbo Pascal and the compiled executables. Providing you have 'Dos' on your comp (Windows 95, 98, ME- not NT or 2000) once downloaded, these programs should run when the icon is double clicked. If you wish to experiment with the 'pas' file you will need the Turbo Pascal 7 compiler. Pascal is a high level programming language that has gone out of fashion, having said that I have, and still do, enjoy many hours doodling at my computer writing and experimenting with programs in this compiler. Indeed there are many gifted programmers out there on the web that have written programs whose graphical skills and knowledge would take your breath away. In the narrative above I have targeted the fresher and hobby programmer. Like me, they enjoy doodling on their computer. Pascal has taught me the basics of programming and opened the door to object orientated programming. I still have much to learn and with the many tutorials out there on the net, there is no excuse not to.

Downloads

The programs below are not debugged and are as they were written. But if the prompts are followed, then the programs should run as intended. These exercises gave me the ideas I needed to create my project, which is available to download as a zip file containing all the support files below the main list. By the time the course was over, I had learnt sufficiently enough to guide my users through the program and prevent any erroneous input that they may have inadvertently entered. I have included a brief description in the pas files- (source code), and what each program does so I suggest downloading the source code zip first; the executables zip, as previously mentioned, are compiled complete.

Tpprogs.zip above contains all the programs here but which now have been partially debugged and data validated for the user's input. I have used various techniques and ideas I got from the boffins on the net. Below is my Hbm project; if you have Turbo Pascal installed, download the file to a new folder on the hard drive and call it 'Hbm'. Extract the zip files, and then click on the .EXE file. The prog should run. Have fun and experiment with them all and perhaps transform them into larger ideas.
