VEGETARIAN RECIPES
apple For a considerable time now I have been a confirmed vegetarian. When I have been interrogated about the reasons for this change I have not been entirely honest with myself, or to my friends. Many occasions arose, in my younger years, where conflicts with mother raged because I ate my veg, and left my meat. Her constant cry to me - you will never grow up to be a strong lad if I do not eat your meat. In retrospect I have to say that I have never really enjoyed eating meat, but during the period over which I did, I did so under the misconception that meals would be tasteless without it.

This idea is entirely untrue and I hope to interest, whoever enters my website, into trying some of the recipes I have concocted over the years, using various vegetable foods available today. Those who are Vegans (do not eat any meat or products from) may wish to improvise on various aspects of the original recipe. As a vegetarian I may be considered borderline by some, as I do, on occasion, eat deep-sea fish (cod, haddock, etc.). I make no excuses for this, other than to present the fact, it was good enough for our good Lord to feed the five thousand on. If we gaze across the spectrum of nature we see a bizarre criteria of species preying upon species. I conclude we are no different, other than to possess an intelligence that should enable us to manage the creatures we farm more humanely.

ingredients Taking a closer look at life around me, over the preceding years, I have noticed the suffering of the animals, that make up our food chain, increase to alleviate the pressures upon our purses. From the past up to the present it has been inherent in humanity, but prompts me to ask, when does it end? With me, it has ended over the latter part of my life, and my target is to be entirely dependent on vegetables as the source of my food intake. As for 'Genetically Modified Food', well that is something for me to research and perhaps write about on another occasion.
However we digress. The following recipes require the usual herbs, as I have always maintained that if you plonk a piece of meat into the pan it will be pretty bland without the input of a few herbs. So let us use those herbs to flavour our veg.
